Lady Buddha statue meaning, name, ect?

today me and my friend were in an oriental store looking at statues of buddha and such. she asked the store keeper if she could get one of the skinny, sitting buddhas. he proceeded to tell us about the statue and said it was lady buddha. we couldn't totally understand him because of his accent but i believe he said something about a girl was supposed to keep the statue in her room at all times and it would provide protection or something. i was wondering if anyone knew the name of this lady buddha and what your supposed to do with the statue like keep it in a certain place and what it provides such as guidance, protection, ect. thanks!
